Some Bullying Statistics

From SMS Today : (http://www.smstoday.co.uk/blog/2007/04/1_in_5_kids_are.html)

  • 22 children playing soccer on a Sunday morning, at least 4 of them are being bullied, harrassed or threatened via SMS Text.
  • In the most recent poll of it's kind the children’s charity, NCH (UK) found that one in five 11 to 19 year olds had been bullied, harrassed or threatened via SMS Text.

Anyone who's ever been the victim of bullying will tell you how traumatic it is. Regardless of your age, I'll bet that you can still remember the name of your bully. Think back to your school days and remember the relief of finally getting home to safety and sanctuary of your home.

Now imagine being 11 years old again and the effect of your bully being able to continue the harrassment, via your mobile phone, long after you have reach the comfort of your bedroom. That's a completely different ball game.

Harrassment can take the form of SMS text, voice calls and photos and images via MMS.
